EAHEA Academic Qualification Equivalency Statement for Graduates

Graduates of EAHEA accredited institutions, or of institutions that hold an equivalent accreditation approved by EAHEA, can request an EAHEA Academic Qualification Equivalency Statement to demonstrate that their diploma, their earned credits and their awarding institution are bona fide and meet the education quality standards of EAHEA. The Academic Qualification Equivalency Statement also specifies the total local credits earned and their equivalents in the credit systems of the United States (USC), the United Kingdom (CATS) and Europe (ECTS).

What Is the Academic Qualification Equivalency Statement from EAHEA?

EAHEA assists individuals to validate their degrees and diplomas and to have their earned credits recognized on an international scale. For this purpose EAHEA has developed a validation procedure that certifies the credit and degree equivalency of a diploma or certification earned at an EAHEA accredited institution or at an institution with an equivalent accreditation. The academic qualification equivalency statement also reflects the external quality review of the degree, the institution and the program of study.

EAHEA regards this service as an important and constructive process that facilitates the acceptance of the degrees and credits earned at its accredited institutions. Accreditation is a voluntary and non-governmental process, and no accreditation in the world can provide automatic acceptance of the credits earned at other institutions or guarantee the acceptance of graduates by employers. Acceptance of students or graduates is always the decision of the receiving institution or employer. Employers and educational institutions are free to accept or not to accept the document or the credits, and EAHEA does not guarantee any result in this respect.

What Does the Academic Qualification Equivalency Statement State?

You receive an international academic qualification equivalency statement issued by the European Association for Higher Education Advancement, which states the following information:

  • The equivalent of the credits in the United Kingdom system (CATS)
  • The equivalent of the credits in the European system (ECTS)
